Gencon 2011 releases!

Sea Dog Game Studios will be at Gencon this year!

We are running games Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with morning and evening Sailpower and mid-day TechCommander deathmatch games. Check out our Events page for details.

We will have a booth in the dealer hall (Booth #1843) for your shopping pleasure.   We are trying to have folks there to run short games on our demo table.

We also will be releasing:

TechCommander:

8 new AC2 Ray-class tanks designs, all based off the original STINGRAY chassis.

These will be available, first come-first serve, in limited numbers.  They retail for $25 each, but will  be available at special pricing of $20 each if you buy at least 3, buy a starter, buy a core rulebook, or spend at least $100 on Sea Dog Game Studios  product.

These tanks are very cool, and were designed to add some cost effective entries for building a Techcommander playbox.

In addition to the 8 new Rays, we are releasing a AC2 command scout car called the ROUGHRIDER, which resembles a cross between a Willies jeep and some sort of space invader!   This vehicle will be available as part of the ray class multi-tank purchase deal outlined above.

Also released for Gencon:

  • Beast AC4 MSV – $50
  • Paladin AC6 MSV – $120

We are also hoping to have a few surprises ready for the show (crossing fingers!)

Sailpower

Sailpower starters, and a lot of our 8 gun sloops and schooners sold out at Origins, but never fear we have restocked and should have plenty at the show.

We also have restocked the brand new HMS Speedy kit ($85)

For those who have the Sailpower rules and want to get rolling with the new Sailpower 2.0 pre-release rules we are using at shows, we will have the new quick rules playmats available in rolled form for $10

These quickrules include:

  • Improved ships with better speed plots, wind shadowing, and new stats
  • Improved cannon charts with new cannon types
  • Improved Small boat rules
  • The new RAKE RULE! (You guys all asked for it!)
  • and finally the full treasure search system!

We also will have limited quantities of the colored treasure chests (like the ones we use at shows) in sets of 20 (12 black, 8 red)

And last but not least we will have loose small boats and bits available to accessorize your ship!

Don’t forget: Sailpower this Sunday at the Soldiery!

Don’t forget. We are playing Sailpower game at the Soldiery this Sunday. Starting around 2pm until 7pm.

We will have a potluck table, so bring some food to share. The better the food you bring, the better chance you have to get a “food bonus” of extra crew, weapons, or other game bonus.

See you there!

SeaDog Game Studios 2011 preview!

If you know of a Sailpower/Techcommander player this email missed, or if you see this on the blog, please feel free to forward to them, and or send me an email so i can add them/you to my database.

TECHCOMMANDER
I am in planning mode for 2011 TechCommander.  I hope to release a more diverse set of low price point vehicles and AC3 MSV’s  to better fill out the line. It occured to me that we do not have a good entry level AC3 kit, and could probably use a few new flavors of vehicles. Also we are working on correcting various typos pointed out by players. If you know of a typo, let us know!  Also I am interested in what players would like to see in vehicles and AC3 MSV’s . . .  No guarantee I’ll be able to get around to everything with the busy offseason schedule, but always interested to hear from the players out there.

Additionally we are still working to get infantry done, and hope to release a companion book with lots of new units along with the infantry.

In 2010 currently I plan to release the Jazz, Deinonychus, Hunter IV, Beast, Elephant, and Paladin. If you want one or several of these above units, you can email us or the Soldiery and we will adjust our initial production order accordingly.

We ALSO plan to release a new Syndicate AC3 armed with devastators, a initial infantry release, a new vehicle or two, and hopefully a TechCommander novel!

SAILPOWER
Sailpower was first written in 2000 and first released to the public in 2005. Depending on which of these years you consider it’s birth it is either five or ten years old!  We are hard at work making some improvements which we hope to eventually release as Sailpower 2.0.  These improvements should blend nicely to the original rules, so the average player should be able to continue to use their old book with some supplement from printable downloads  We do hope to provide enough cool new content that many of you will want to pick up the new edition when it is released, however we would like for the game to stay close enough to the original core rules that the budget conscious player will still be able to use their original rule book.

Changes include:
The new more accurate speed system
Rake rules!
New cannon types and a simplified and standardized weapons damage system
Slightly more accurate cannons within optimum range
Better small boat rules
Integrated treasure rules
a new set of port rules that will make GMing a port easier and allow port to port trading

We will be finishing up and releasing the following kits

28MM 16 gun brig

HMS Speedy
14 gun Privateer Schooner
28gun frigate
38 gun frigate

If you want one or several of these above units, you can email us or the Soldiery and we will adjust our initial production order accordingly.

VALKYRIE PEWTER

We will be going the OSU ren and Ohio ren again, we are considering adding the Great Lakes Medieval fair.  We are looking to possibly create a like of steampunk jewelry for the conventions.  If you have any scrap cogs or gears you would not mind donating to to us, let us know!
